Applied Materials

Shelby is a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Applied Materials in Sunnyvale, CA. Last summer, she interned last summer at Gener8, an engineering consulting company, as a Mechanical Engineering intern. This fall, she enters her senior year in Mechanical Engineering at San Jose State University. This past year, Shelby served as the Fundraising Co-Chair in her club, SWE (Society of Women Engineers). She is a member of the engineering honors societies TBP (Tau Beta Pi) and PTS (Pi Tau Sigma). Outside of school, Shelby loves to stay healthy and fit by working out and dancing. She enjoys line and swing dance, but she grew up dancing jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and contemporary. She also sings country music. Her future goals are to pursue a career in Automation/Robotics, attain a master’s degree or two, learn an instrument to create cover songs, get more involved in politics, attain her pilot’s license, use social media less, get outdoors more, join a bible study, and continue to be an advocate for women in STEM. Shelby has once before served on a conference panel at WOW! That’s Engineering for high school women interested in STEM, and She is excited to share about herself and her path today.
