Turning a Corner—Brighter Prospects for 2010
Recent industry news is giving good reason to believe that prospects for the global microelectronics industry will brighten in 2010 as global economies and the demand for electronics rises. The latest SEMI forecasts project more than 60% growth in front end wafer fab spending in 2010 and overall growth (front and back end spending) of more than 50%. Wafer fab and packaging materials should also rebound in 2010, rising between 15 and 20% to nearly US$41 billion.

By July, the industry is certain to be buzzing about the technologies and trends leading the next upturn, positioning SEMICON West exhibitors in the right place at the right time to connect with customers eager to get back to the business of microelectronics manufacturing. Keeping reading the monthly Exhibitor Updates and stay in touch with SEMI for the latest industry news and information!

Coming Soon: Pulling the Wraps off of SEMICON West 2010
We're putting the finishing touches on some exciting new features and attractions for SEMICON West 2010 that will give exhibitors new ways to engage customers and provide new opportunities on and off the show floor. Early in the new year, you'll see changes to the SEMICON West website that will give exhibitors and visitors easier access to information and new ways to interact before, during, and after the show. There's a lot more to come, but you'll have to stay tuned...

TIP OF THE MONTH—Tracking Leads Through Sales Cycle Milestones
Many companies in the semiconductor industry have long and complex sales cycles. This can make it appear difficult, if not impossible to determine the value of a tradeshow interaction or track a tradeshow lead through to the ultimate conversion. One approach that can help address this challenge is to think about lead tracking in terms of movement through the key milestones of your sales cycle. I define a milestone as a significant action or step that moves the buyer to the next step in a sales cycle. Click here to read more.

FairGuide and EXPOGUIDE Scam Alert!
With the ongoing solicitations, SEMI would like to continue to alert you to the two organizations soliciting internet Event Directory listing information in a misleading manner. The two organizations are Austrian based FairGuide and Mexican based ExpoGuide By submitting these forms, exhibitors are contracted into a three-year, non-retractable agreement totaling nearly US$3,000. This is an on-going issue and is not related to the SEMICON West 2010 Event Directory. These companies do not represent SEMI in any manner. If you receive a form from these companies, please ignore it.

If you are a U.S. company that has been targeted by either organization, it is important to lodge a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
