Tip of the Month: Secrets of the Aisles: Effectively Working Your Exhibit
To effectively work your company's exhibit, you must recognize and adapt your behaviors and communication skills to the unique dynamics of the tradeshow environment. Time, fatigue, information overload and the competition across the aisle present real challenges to effectively communicating on the tradeshow floor. Click here to learn more on how to prepare yourself for SEMICON West!

Frequently Asked Question—When are the 2009 onsite space selection appointment times available?
Selecting your booth space for SEMICON West 2009 gives you several advantages, including securing your location and extending your planning cycle time. The application contract and appointment time information will be sent to all exhibitors by separate email later this week.

Don't forget! This year, the SEMICON West 2009 Onsite Space Selection Office will be located in the Exhibitor Services Center in Gateway Hall. We will post all of the information online including the SEMICON West 2009 On-Site Space Selection Appointment Time Schedule so that you may reference it at any time. We look forward to seeing you at Gateway Hall next month!

Official Vendors at SEMICON West
SEMI does not provide exhibitor contact information to any vendors who are not officially associated with SEMICON West. Unfortunately, there are occasionally times when other vendors may imply a relationship with SEMICON West in an attempt to solicit your businesses. If in doubt, please refer to the following lists to confirm the status of official vendors. Please rest assured that SEMICON West official partner vendors are committed to providing competitive rates and offer full service, pre-show as well as during the event. For your convenience, there are 2 different types of official contractors and are listed as follows:

  • Exclusive contractors are those companies who are solely permitted to perform the services listed, and exhibitors requiring such services must go through them directly.
  • Recommended contractors have not only partnered with SEMI to offer competitive rates, but have the added benefit of manning a fully staffed service desk onsite. Exhibitors are not obligated to secure the services of the 'recommended' contractors.
If you have any doubts or questions relating to a call or email you might have received, please do not hesitate to contact us for further clarification.

Understanding installation + Dismantle
California is a mandatory union state, which means that there are some firm regulations you need to be aware of when preparing for your exhibit. While it may be frustrating that you are “limited" to what you are permitted to do, please try and remember the union rules were developed for good reasons—mostly for safety. Click here for a brief description of the San Francisco Labor Jurisdictions. Understanding them in advance will only help ensure smooth move-in.

Attention PV/Solar Exhibitors: Are You on "The List"?
To help promote SEMICON West exhibitors showcasing photovoltaic equipment, materials, and services, we have begun production of special "PV at West" promotions, including calling-out PV exhibitors on the SEMICON West website, on special "PV at West" signage at the show, "PV at West" pages in the SEMICON West Event Directory, and in an onsite "PV at West" brochure. If you are planning to showcase PV-related products and services at SEMICON West, please review the current list online and make sure that you are represented. If you are not on the list, please contact Mike Droeger at mdroeger@semi.org immediately. We are in the final production stages of our onsite marketing promotions and we want to make sure every PV exhibitor is represented!

Maximize Your Exposure at SEMICON West by Utilizing the Press Room
SEMICON West is here again, and there are a number of things you can do to ensure the maximum effect for your company. You have the booth, you have the cool giveaways, brand spanking new company shirts for those on booth duty, and the nice 4-color collateral.

So what about the press kits?

That's right, press kits. After all, the number of journalists that attend the show equals about 10% of the overall number of exhibitors, and they are responsible for putting your story out to not only the people attending the show, but more importantly, the people who might not have been able to make it, but have vested interest in show content.

Even with so many members of the media attending, most companies do not utilize the press room resource to display their press kits. Something to the tune of eight percent actually do use it.

So why do you need to do this?

Well, the press room is a facility used by press to write and file stories about interesting companies and technologies at the show, and many times, when journalists are looking for a story, they start by perusing press kits for information. So, guess what happens when you don't drop off your press kit? That's right, your chances of maximizing your coverage potential goes way down, and the journalist ends up covering a company other than yours!

So, if you need help with what needs to go into your press kit, click here for a checklist of items you might want to include. Or, if you have any additional questions, you can always contact me, Scott Smith (Tel: 1.408.943.7957 / Email: ssmith@semi.org)

Device manufacturers want to meet with you at SEMICON West!
Intel, Micron, Samsung and others will be using the SEMICON West Supplier Search Program to look for innovative products and solutions. As a SEMICON West exhibitor primary or secondary contact, you should be receiving e-mails from SEMI that describe the program and allow you to submit a proposal to these device manufacturers. The device manufacturers will then contact selected companies through SEMI to set up meetings at SEMICON West. The SEMICON West Supplier Search Program is exclusively for SEMICON West exhibitors, so look for those e-mails and make sure to take advantage of this great opportunity to meet with your customers.

To check on or update your exhibitor contact information, please contact Leslie Schade (Tel: 1.408.943.6978 / Email: lschade@semi.org).

Event Massage Services: Invite attendees to your booth with a complimentary massage
With SEMICON West just around the corner, do you think you have the right "pull" to your booth? Do you have pens, candy or trinkets to attract the attendees? Why not try Chair Massage? Event Massage Services will provide you with one or more certified massage therapists to perform chair massage at your booth. This creates a captive audience for your sales people to "strut their stuff" as people begin to line up to receive their free massage, compliments of your company. The memory of the most relaxing ten minutes of the attendee's day will linger on long after the show is over and they will link that memory with your company.

We charge $85 per hour, and we think, in advertising terms, that this will be money well spent for your company. Please do not hesitate to contact us at Tel: 1.949.510.2396 / Email: abetts@eventmassageservices.com.
