Tip of the Month: Staffing For SEMICON West Exhibiting Success: Your People Make or Break Your Exhibit!
Whether your upcoming SEMICON West exhibit ends up as an investment offering a solid return or just an expense rests on the shoulders of the people staffing your exhibit. When you strip away all the lights, sounds, images, equipment and architecture from the exhibit floor you end up with an industry specific marketplace where people meet face-to-face to talk and do business. And only your staff can talk and do business. Click here to learn more about staffing for exhibiting success!

Frequently Asked Question—Do I have to pay storage fees for my booth if I ship to the advance warehouse?
Storage of your materials is included in the advance warehouse material handling costs provided that your shipment arrives between June 9th and July 2nd. By shipping to the advance warehouse you are saving 10% on material handling costs over shipping directly to show site. Also, by using the warehouse your freight will be delivered to your booth by the end of your targeted move-in time.

The Accessible Storage form in the Exhibitor Services Manual is for show site storage at Moscone Center to be used if you have items, such as giveaways, that need to be accessed or brought to your booth during the show. You do not have to complete the accessible storage form for materials going to the advance warehouse.

SEMICON West Show Update
With the big show a mere two months away, now is a great time to kick your customer promotions into high gear and make sure you promote your presence at SEMICON West this year. Now is also a good time to familiarize yourself with the growing SEMICON West agenda of programs and events. This year we have more content partners and supporting associations than ever before, bringing an even greater variety of rich technical and business content to the show. Supporting partners include BiTS, the Fab Owners Association, iMAPS, the ITRS, MEPTEC, the MEMS Industry Group, Si2, SPIE, and Southwest Test Workshop, just to name a few. From the SEMICON West Packaging Summit, to new programs on 200mm productivity and 450mm, from the keynotes to the TechXPOTs, SEMICON West 2008 has great content that aligns with the critical topics and issues driving the industry today. Check out the SEMICON West website at www.semiconwest.org for the latest agenda developments.

Promote your Products and Services at the Exhibitor Product Showcase Room
Would you like the opportunity to present your products and/or services to a group of your customers and prospects, but don’t have the space in your booth? Consider renting a session in the Exhibitor Product Showcase. The Exhibitor Product Showcase offers you affordable short-term presentation space located conveniently at Moscone Center. All Exhibitor Product Showcase presentations will be included onto the official show schedule, and promoted through all the marketing channels.

For more information and to submit your reservation form, please view the Exhibitor Product Showcase Information online or contact Leslie Schade at lschade@semi.org / Tel: 1.408.943.6978.

Print-on-Demand Visitor Brochure Update
Due to technical difficulties, the launch of the print-on-demand visitor brochure program has been delayed, however we are hopeful to launch this service by next week. Once launched, you will be able to order and customize either a brochure or postcard version of the visitor direct mail promotion via a dedicated online store. The process will allow you to customize your copies with your company logo and booth location information, plus you will be able to upload your address lists and ship your direct mail straight from the printer (or, if you choose, you may have the mailers bulk shipped to you directly). We will send additional instructions when the service is ready to launch. If you have questions about the print-on-demand program, please contact Mike Droeger, director of Global Expositions Marketing, at mdroeger@semi.org.

Two-Story Booths:
A two-story exhibit is defined as booth with a physical 2nd level. An exhibitor’s location and booth plans MUST be pre-approved to build a two-story exhibit. Click here to access page 4 of the SEMI Rules & Regulations section for two-storey booths information. If you are planning to have a two-story booth and did not indicate this on your booth application contract, please contact Leslie Schade at lschade@semi.org / Tel: 1.408.943.6978.

Booth Approval Procedures Checklist: Use this checklist to ensure your booth complies with the Rules and Regulations!
It is your responsibility to ensure that your booth design complies with the Rules and Regulations stipulated in the Exhibitor Services Manual, Section 2. SEMI has created a Booth Approval Procedures Checklist to help you with your planning. Remember, if your booth does not comply with the exhibit rules and regulations onsite, you will be required to make modifications at your own expense.

Please refer to the Booth Approval Procedure Checklist for a quick overview on the Rules and Regulations.

Roll Out the Red Carpet for your Top Customers!
The SEMICON West VIP Program is designed to encourage your key customers to attend the show, and give industry leaders a special invitation and an extra level of service to make sure they have a pleasant and effective visit to the show.

Please provide SEMI with a list of 10-15 of your key customers from Semiconductor, Solar Cell and Module Manufacturers, Fabless, and Test and Assembly Subcontractors with contact information (email address, and phone numbers) by May 30th 2008 . SEMI will send out personalized invitations to VIP’s along with invitations to the President’s Reception. VIP’s also receive a special gift along with a special VIP Badge. This is a great way to see that your key customers receive an extra level of attention from SEMI Staff.

Please send VIP information or questions regarding the program to Carrie Engar at cengar@semi.org or 1.408.943.7999

Event Marketing Opportunities from Immersa Marketing (Formerly The Chase Group) EMOs: Spring Into Action!
It’s not too late to sprout some new ideas for maximizing your exhibit presence. Summer is almost here and that means SEMICON West 2008 is just two months away!

The Event Marketing Opportunity (EMO) program has never been hotter! Fifteen of your fellow exhibitors, including Applied Materials, Cymer, Nikon Precision, ICOS and Advantest, have made their selections and commitments. While many opportunities are sold out there are still many opportunities to choose from, including banner space and backlit ad panels. Pick a program and watch your booth traffic blossom!

  • The CEIR REPORT shows that those companies who do advertising or sponsor outside their booth get more leads and more ROI
  • Booth efficiency increases by 104% when sponsorships are offered and sponsorship investments range from 15% to 25% of a marketing budget
    • Source ceir.org Leveraging Your Exhibition Sponsorships Report

Now is also a great time to plant your custom ideas or suggestions.

To secure the best sponsorship location for you, and to learn how to get the most out of your EMO selection, call Mark Furrer at Immersa Marketing, 1.408.688,0844, or email markf@immersamarketing.com.

FairGuide.com and EXPOGUIDE Scam
In December SEMI alerted you to the FairGuide.com scam where an Austrian publishing company, Construct Data Verlag AG (aka “FairGuide”) was distributing an internet directory listing form to a number of our exhibitors in the past. It has come to our attention that another organization EXPOGUIDE is also soliciting Event Directory information in the same misleading manner. In submitting these forms, exhibitors are contracted into a three-year, non-retractable agreement totaling nearly US$3,000. This is an on-going issue and is not related to the SEMICON West 2008 Event Directory. These companies do not represent SEMI in any manner. If you receive a form from these companies, please ignore it.

If you are a U.S. company that has been targeted by either organization, it is important to lodge a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
